Preflight Dispatch #2: April, 2026
It’s been nearly six weeks since Preflight was launched! There’s been some great feedback, and some early learnings that are all helping shape a better tool for our customers.
In just those few short weeks, we’ve had over 1,400 people check out the website. And for those that have signed up, we’ve generated nearly 9,000 email screenshots!
Updates will be a little slower this week and next while I take some time away from the screen while the schools are out for Easter break. However, here’s a recap of some of the changes and happenings:
Forced Dark-mode renders
This came off the back of Mark Robbin’s video about working with forced dark-mode. I had dabbled with forced-dark mode early on in my colour contrast work, but it never made it to the app..
It’s now here! If you check out the Chrome screenshots for an email, there is now additional ‘Forced Dark’ screenshots to see how your email will render in Mobile, Tablet, and Desktop viewports.

Windows Outlook (classic) screenshots
You can now view your email in ‘Windows Outlook (classic)’, running on Windows 11. This has been requested by a few people as a must-have, so I’m pleased to now include it in our screenshot offering.
Version Updates
- iPadOS has been upgraded from 26.3 to 26.3.1 (a).
Moveable emails
Some feedback around navigation and general user experience has started to be addressed. Previously, creating an email in the wrong place meant either tolerating that mistake, or deleting the email and re-creating which was less than ideal.
Emails can now be freely moved between folders. And some flows like making a folder and moving have been updated to use a drawer mechanic to avoid losing context of where you are in-app.
Inbound email addresses
With the changes to enable moving emails between folders, inbound email addresses have had a small update too. It was difficult to tell the difference between generated addresses, so they’re now a bit more playful to make them easier to distinguish. eg.

Customer / Partner API exploration
There’s been a surprising amount of interest around the availability of an API. I’ll be rolling access to this out to all accounts this month, subject to some reasonable usage limits.
Initial documentation is available at https://preflight.qa/api/ .
We’re also actively discussing API partnerships. If you’re interested in using Preflight within your own product, drop me a message at hello@preflight.qa to start a conversation!
14-day Trial
A few pieces of feedback were the 5-day trial was off-putting. We think you’ll see value within a few minutes of trying the product. However, to give you the confidence Preflight is the right fit for your workflow, the trial period has been increased to 14-days.
Sponsorship and Advertising
I’ve started exploring different mediums to drum up awareness of Preflight.
Preflight started to sponsor some issues of Simon Harper’s All About Email newsletter. Simon’s been running his weekly email newsletter for quite some time, and has his finger on the pulse of what’s happening within the email industry.
I’ve also started to dabble with Google and Microsoft Ads. It’s been about 15+ years since I last did any of this stuff, so more about finding my feet than running an exhaustive campaign just now.
I really prefer the idea of sponsoring and collaborating with individuals or smaller businesses instead giving money to the big corporate ad networks. So we’ll see what happens over the coming year.

That’s it for this dispatch. Again, thanks to everyone that has provided early feedback!
Best,
Mark
