Hi! I’m Mark, founder of Preflight. Today, I’d like to share that the product is now live!

Preflight originally began as an exploration into making digital content more accessible. I decided to then combine and steer my effort to building a better email testing product. One that remains affordable to freelancers and small businesses.

I’m quite pleased with how it’s progressing. There’s still lots to do mind.. some user experience things to improve on, and functionality that I’ve just not got to building or polishing.. but if I waited for everything to be perfect, it would never see the light of day.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint.. and we’re just getting started!

What’s available today?

• Audit Insights. On launch, we bring you the ability to get quick insights into an email's accessiblity, rendering, and some basic delivery analysis.
• Visual Contrast Testing. Ensuring your words are perfectly clear across all devices (phones, tablets, desktops) and in every lighting setting, from bright white screens to dark mode.
• Email Screenshots. See how your email will render in dark/light mode, different viewports, and in a handful of real email applications: Outlook for Mac; Apple Mail for Mac & iPad. Our insights will be immediately valuable to you, whilst we expand our email rendering over time.
• Delivery Checks. Check your email with spam testing, sending IP reputation, authentication, and performance checks.
• Deterministic, repeatable audits. We don't throw things over the wall to <flavour of the month> AI tool here.. Any static analysis, model analysis, or other analytical techniques are performed in-house by dedicated services we've built and manage. We value the quality of the results we give you.
• Review email journeys. Capture and test email journeys with virtual mailboxes.
• Share insights. You can generate links to share our at-a-glance insights with colleagues and clients.

• A company you can trust. We're a self-funded, privately-owned company registered in Scotland (SC865033). I've been creating web applications professionally since 2008, and building and leading software teams in this product space for nearly a decade. My current aspiration is to build and sustain a small, focused team dedicated to creating a great product that delivers real value.
• 5-day free trial, then a simple monthly subscription. A good product should speak for itself and justify its cost. Don't like it or don't need it anymore? There's no commitment required.

What’s coming this year?

I’m particularly interested to shape the product to actively fit our paying customer needs. Here are some of the things in the pipeline:

• More email testing devices. We will however be prescriptive, we don't think you need to test in 100+ clients. I'll write more about this soon.
• Continue to iterate and improve the product experience.
• The.. 32 things still on my office whiteboard that haven't been started yet.
• Some unique personalisation testing functionality that just wasn't ready enough to make the cut for launch.
• New tooling/product features to better enable teams to collaborate on work.
• A bunch of other cool stuff I'll need more hands to help build!
• Every 6 weeks, i'll post and share news and updates about the product and company.
